MS thesis for visiting students

(From Filippo Capolino)

Dear EECS faculty,

we have recently established an exchange "Erasmus Program" with the Polytechnic of Turin, Italy. and our EECS Department Please read below.

If you are interested in having an MS student doing a MS thesis with you, please send me a short description of the topic you propose.

I suggest you propose something doable in 5 months. The quality of such students is in general very good but should be checked (the gpa).

This could be also a way to try to retain excellent students for the PhD program.

Best regards

Filippo

----- INFO ------
Erasmus+ is a European mobility program for students who can go abroad to complete their Master Thesis.

Previous Erasmus programs were limited to European countries, now also extra UE universities are involved. UCI (and three more US universities) signed an agreement with Politecnico di Torino, Italy, to accept students working on their master thesis. There will be a maximum of 2 students per year.

The total duration of the visit is 5months, and it is supported by EU. Students are not required to attend classes nor to get credits, they have just to work in the lab on their master thesis.

What is required at this time is a general declaration of interest to host these students, and possibly an indication of the work field or subject title. Before starting the program, students must contact their advisor in UCI, to check the availability of the subject they are interested to.

At this time only electrical engineering is involved, but in the future the program can encompass all the engineering fields.
