CpE Assessment

Mapping of CpE SOI to EAC SO

To make it simpler to assess three programs (CpE, CSE, and EE) for different sets of outcomes (EAC and CAC) simultaneously, the current practice is to assess SOI (student outcome indicators), which parse the EAC and CAC outcomes into simpler terms.   CpE assesses only EAC ones.

EAC SO (a) An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering

CpE SOI (a1) An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics

CpE SOI (a2) An ability to apply knowledge of science

CpE SOI (a3) An ability to apply knowledge of engineering

EAC SO (b) An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data

CpE SOI (b1) An ability to design and conduct experiments

CpE SOI (b2) An ability to analyze and interpret data

EAC SO (c) An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability

CpE SOI (c1) An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints

EAC SO (d) An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams

CpE SOI (d1) An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams to effectively agree on common goals

CpE SOI (d2) An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams to effectively define interfaces between system components

EAC SO (e) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems

CpE SOI (e1) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems

EAC SO (f) An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility

CpE SOI (f1) An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility

EAC SO (g) An ability to communicate effectively

CpE SOI (g1) An ability to communicate effectively

EAC SO (h) The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context

CpE SOI (h1) An understanding of the impact of engineering solutions in a global context

CpE SOI (h2) An understanding of the impact of engineering solutions in an economic context

CpE SOI (h3) An understanding of the impact of engineering solutions in an environmental context

CpE SOI (h4) An understanding of the impact of engineering solutions in a societal context

EAC SO (i) A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning

CpE SOI (i1) A recognition of the need for life-long learning

CpE SOI (i2) An ability to engage in life-long learning

EAC SO (j) A knowledge of contemporary issues

CpE SOI (j1) A knowledge of contemporary issues

EAC SO (k) An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice

CpE SOI (k1) An ability to use the techniques and skills necessary for engineering practice

CpE SOI (k2) An ability to use modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
