Dear EECS students,
The multidisciplinary engineering senior design project UAV Forge is recruiting new talent for 2017-2018! All positions are available for registration! An information session will be held on Week 0, Friday September 29 at DBH 1200. Here is our recruitment flyer: https://tinyurl.com/ycgzte9d
Originally for a 2011 DARPA competition, UAV Forge aimed to design, build, and code an autonomous VTOL-capable (vertical take-off and landing) drone for tactical deployment by military operators.
With new leadership and new findings by Ariel Louie and Kristen Okano, the project’s focus is being redefined towards a new 2018 student competition hosted by AUVSI. Competition tasks include creating an UAV with obstacle avoidance, air delivery, and object detection functionalities.
This competition inspires innovation and team-work with students in MAE, EECS, and ICS majors. To be a more inclusive project, UAV Forge is now offered in EECS 159A and CSE 181A LAB for students in EECS and ICS!
If you have any interested in fabrication, mechanical design, propulsion systems, avionics, and software programming for unmanned aerial vehicles, UAV Forge is for you! Again, please attend our information session on Week 0, Friday September 29 at DBH 1200.
If you're unable to attend the meeting or want more information, please contact Ariel and Kristen at uavforge.uci.sdp@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Ariel Louie
